Your Association, together with the other Master Builders Associations, has concluded a deal with SHELL SA whereby our Members can obtain a reduced price for diesel fuel through the Shell D CARD fuel purchasing system.

YOU WILL SAVE 4 CENTS PER LITRE ON THE NORMAL D CARD SELLING PRICE, WHICH IS GENERALLY LOWER THAN OTHER RETAIL PRICES IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.

e.g. The Shell D CARD selling price for Port Elizabeth as at 15 November 2002 is 397.5 cents. You will save 4 cents on this price as a Member of the MBA.

NOTE: Diesel is unregulated by Government and as such the filling station owner can charge what he/she likes, obviously dependant on the purchase price from the oil company. This is why diesel prices differ from filling station to filling station.

• The Shell D – Card is an on-road fuel and fleet payment/management system that enables you to:

Purchase Shell diesel and lubricants, pay for toll facilities & emergency repairs and maintenance.

• There is a monthly administration fee of R20.10 (including Vat) per Card/Vehicle. Add R9.59 (incl. Vat) for Toll facility.

• The convenience of being able to fill up at any D Card dealer.
• The convenience and added security of not having to carry cash.
• Flexible card PIN security – it is the only fleet card with 4 PIN options.
• The extensive network of 500 Shell Service Stations, Ultra Cities and truck ports that will accept the D card
• An electronic download facility that gives you access to fuel purchases within 24 hours of transaction processing.
• A secure Internet site, which allows customers to access transactions, card or account information 24 hrs after transaction.
• There are no additional charges, eg: Bankcards charge admin fee, transaction fees, Government fee, interest and levy.
• A weekly transaction report facility, which is sent by fax or e-mail.
• New cards are delivered to your door within 72 hours.

Caltex have a discount scheme but it differs in the following respect

• Their card is not linked to a ‘pin number’
• They do not have an on-line facility
• Discount/rebate is based on the pump price as opposed to the scheduled price offered to Shell D card users.

• Advise the MBA office of your intention to apply.
• Our office will arrange a suitable date for a representative of the Member company (PLEASE NOTE THAT IT WOULD BE ADVISABLE TO HAVE THE PERSON/S WHO SIGN THE CHEQUES) to fill in an application form at the MBA office with the assistance of a Shell representative who will be able to answer any queries relating to the application and the use of the D - Card.
