COVID-19 Here for you!

So it's back to work for most of our Industry this week but as you are no doubt aware the MBA has not been idle during Lockdown. Apart from our usual weekly MBA Bulletins and Articles, we have sent out over forty COVID19 specific emails which have also been communicated via our Website, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

As mentioned in many of these communications, the MBA was able to directly and positively influence the content and timing of the moves to Level 4 and Level 3 of the Lockdown through its participation in the COVID-19 Rapid Responses Task Team (CC19RRTT), a “vehicle” formed by Master Builders South Africa to collectively interact directly with Government on COVID-19 issues.

We have also been in constant communication with the 2 Provincial Governments and approximately a dozen local municipalities in our region in order to influence decisions at a grass roots level.

We are pleased to have our whole industry move to Level 3 from today and have issued numerous emails in preparation for this. You are urged to ensure that you are receiving, and opening, the emails from the association which carry this vital information as it will assist you in your preparation to return to work safely and responsibly.

Our MBA staff remain fully operational according to our own Covid-19 Return to Work Plan. Whilst most of our staff have been working from home, some have already been operating from our PE Office for a few weeks now and the balance will gradually be returning to the office in line with COVID-19 Alert Levels over the coming days and weeks.

Our offices are still closed to the public, except for meetings by appointment, however we will keep members posted on the way forward in that regard as soon as possible.

We have fully recognised the extreme hardship being faced by many of our members who have been unable to operate at all during this extended lockdown. As a non-profit organisation, we are also highly revenue sensitive and our dependence on member subscriptions for our survival is therefore critical. Needless to say this has also been a very difficult time for the association, having to fire on all cylinders whilst at the same time balancing the challenges of cashflow and loss of revenue.

We thank all members who have already been able to promptly settle their annual MBA membership subscriptions but also recognise that this may not be possible for all members. We have therefor made provision for a number of possible relief options to assist members who cannot pay their subscriptions in full by 15 June 2020 and we invite them to contact Angelique at our offices on 041 365 1835 to discuss the options available and we will gladly assist you as best we can.

We would obviously like to encourage full payment of subscriptions before 15 June 2020 if at all possible (for which a 5 % settlement discount is offered)

We remain here to assist members and look forward to being able to return to some of the more pressing industry related issues going forward.
