NHBRC

Building a new home is a key milestone in anyone’s life. The Act requires all home builders to enrol every new home with the NHBRC at least 15 days prior to construction.

The enrolment of a new home is the first step in the protection of a housing consumers’ right, as provided by the Housing Consumers Protection Measures Act, 1998.

Any person in the business of building homes is required by law to be registered with the NHBRC. In terms of the Act, any person in the business of home building must be registered with the NHBRC and renew their membership annually.

Any person who contravenes this, shall be guilty of an offence liable of conviction to a fine or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year.
