Dear Valued Stakeholders,
The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) remains committed to its mandate of regulating the homebuilding industry and protecting housing. In pursuit of this responsibility, we continuously evaluate and enhance our regulatory instruments to ensure that homebuilding standards align with best practices and evolving industry needs.
In light of preventable structural failures observed in recent years the NHBRC is taking proactive steps to enforce compliance with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and industry norms. These actions are not merely reactive measures but part of a broader strategy of continuous improvement aimed at strengthening consumer protection and promoting a culture of quality and accountability within the homebuilding sector.
As part of this ongoing regulatory enhancement, we have updated the basic mandatory documentation required for the enrolment of all homes. These updates are designed to ensure that the NHBRC effectively fulfils its mandate as outlined in the Housing Consumers Protection Measures Act, 1998 (Act No. 95 of 1998).
Key Updates to the Enrolment Process:
These updates serve to reinforce our collective responsibility in upholding the integrity of the homebuilding industry. We urge all stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the revised requirements and to ensure strict adherence in all enrolment applications.
We appreciate your cooperation and shared commitment to maintaining the highest standards in home construction.
Yours sincerely,
Ms Millicent Kabwe Executive Manager: Customer Experience and Market Development
