Scaffolding
Scaffolding must be inspected by the appointed scaffold inspector together with the appointed scaffold supervisor after heavy rains or storms before work resumes to ensure structural stability.
Critical checks include:
No heights works may be performed while it is still raining / scaffold wet to prevent any slips / falls.
Temporary works
Inspecting temporary works after rain is a critical safety requirement to ensure the stability of structures like scaffolding, formwork and trenches which are weakened by saturated soil, wind and water loads.
Trenches / Excavations
Water should be pumped out of trenches / excavations.
Area around trenches and excavations should be cordoned off, until the ground level is visible after water has been pumped out.
Excavations soimeties not visible if covered by water.
