May Fuel Price Hike

The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has published the official fuel price increases, which take effect on Wednesday 6, May, 2026, and the news is not good.

Petrol increases by R3.27 per litre while diesel increases by a whopping R 6.19 per litre at the coast.

Diesel will increase to abour R 31.22 (50ppm) while petrol will increase to about R 25.76 per litre.

These are massive increases and by all accounts there will most likely be more increases in June and July as the Government reviews the temparary fuel levy reprieve. It is proposed that this reprieve of R3 per liter on petrol will be halved in June and fall away from July.
