NMB Branch holds 127th AGM

The NMB branch of Master Builders East Cape held its 127th AGM at the Port Elizabeth Golf Club on Tuesday 27 May 2025.

Branch Chairman Gerrard Roach, of Caleb Construction, addressed the meeting which was followed by some excellent Industry networking.

Roach referred to the George Building collapse of 2024 and its impact on the Industy, recalling that the tragedy had occurred just prior to the MBA previous AGM.

In his address he called on members to uphold the ethical standards expected by the association, to act with integrity and to observe legal compliance. He said this with particular reference to adherence to contractual terms and obligations, referring specifically to the payment of subcontractors and suppliers.

Roach, together with MBA Executive Director, Greg Steele, reminded members of the support and services provided by the associations to its members and the wider industry and Steele responded with a strong appeal for younger members to become involved in the affairs of the association.

The branch elected its Branch Committee for the forthconing term and confirmed support for the nomination of Gerrard Roach for a second term as chair and Darryl Breetzke, BSP Construction, for a second term as Vice Chair.

MBA Regional Vice President Hilton Wait, of Dekon Projects, offered some closing remarks acknowledging the turnout of over 140 members and thanked the MBA sponsors for their loyal support.
