The National Minimum Wage in South Africa is set to increase from R27.58 to R28.79 per hour, effective from 1 March 2025. This adjustment reflects a 4.4% increase. This new rate will also be applicable to farm- and domestic workers.
Workers employed on Expanded Public Works’ hourly rate will increase from R15.16 to R15.83.
The National Minimum Wage Commission had recommended an adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus an additional 1.5%, which was influenced by the CPI of 2.9% recorded in November 2024.
Members are reminded to increase their wage rate accordingly on 1 March 2025.
